The Spring Feasts "rehearse" the events of the
Messiah's 1st coming as the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29)
Historically, the feast of Passover marked by Israel's
slaying of the spotless lamb (Exodus 12:5-6,12-13) points to the prophetic fulfillment of the Messiah's death for sin
(I Corinthians 5:7)
Historically, the feast of Unleavened Bread marked by
Israel's three day journey from Egypt to the Red Sea (Deuteronomy 16:3 cf. Numbers 33:5-8) points to the prophetic fulfillment of the Messiah's three day interment
in the earth (Matthew 12:40)
Historically, the feast of Firstfruits marked by Israel's
crossing of the Red Sea (Psalms 106:9-11) points to the prophetic fulfillment of the Messiah as the First Fruits
of the resurrection (I Corinthians 15:22-23 cf. I Corinthians 10:1-4)
Historically, the feast of Weeks marked by God descending
in fire on Mount Sinai 50 days after the crossing of the Red Sea (Exodus 19:1,10-11,16-18) points to the prophetic fulfillment of the Day of Pentecost 50 days
after the Messiah's resurrection when the Holy Spirit descended in power on the disciples (Acts 1:1-5; Acts 2:1-4)
Overview of the Fall Feasts
The Fall Feasts "rehearse" the events of the
Messiah's 2nd coming as the "Lion of the Tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5)
It outlines the history of the "Times of the Gentiles" (Luke 21:24)
from the command to rebuild Jerusalem after the Babylonian captivity to the establishment of the everlasting kingdom
of Israel's Messiah (Daniel 2:44)
The Hebrew word (shabuwa) rendered "weeks" (Daniel 9:24) literally means "sevens"
and specifically is associated with the time denomination of years, i.e. 70 "weeks (sevens)" of years(Genesis 29:27)
69 weeks have passed and ended at Messiah's 1st coming
when as Israel's Prince (Daniel 9:25)
He rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to the cries of Hosanna "oh save!" (Matthew 21:4-5,8-9 cf. Zechariah 9:9)
The Messiah was killed "cut off" at His 1st
coming after the close of the 69th week and before the opening of the 70th week (Daniel 9:26)
The 70th week is yet future and will be fulfilled at the
time of Messiah's 2nd coming (Daniel 9:27)
Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot); 15th day of 7th month (Leviticus 23:34)
The literal fulfillment of the 45 day period of the Fall
Feasts
30 days following the "Great Tribulation" (the
6th month) will be the pouring out of the 7 bowls of Divine wrath (Revelation 15:5-8), which will be cumulative (Revelation 16:2,10-11) and for which the better part of that month will be total darkness
(Matthew 24:29 cf. Isaiah 13:9-11)
On the 10th day of the 7th month (Feast of Atonement)
will be Israel's repentance and mourning for ihe rejection of Messiah, Who will then open up the Fountain of Forgiveness
for His people (Zechariah 12:10 - 13:2) and make the New Covenant with Israel (Jeremiah 31:31-34)
On the 15th day of the 7th month (Feast of Tabernacles)
will be the resurrection of Messiah's people and the inauguration of Messiah's kingdom (Ezekiel 37),
which will be annually kept by the nations (Zechariah 14:16-18)
