The "vile person" (Daniel 11:21) is he whose "words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn
swords" (Psalms 55:21)
Antichrist will come from very humble beginnings to whom
"the honor of the kingdom (Israel)" is not given and, thus, is termed the "Little Horn" (Daniel 7:8;Daniel 8:9)
He will "obtain the kingdom (Israel) by flatteries"
and speak "peaceably" to Israel (Daniel 11:21) with words "smoother than butter, but war was in his heart"
(Psalms 55:21)
Ultimately, Antichrist will come in like a "flood"
against Israel (Daniel 11:22 cf.Daniel 9:26)
and they (Jews) who put their trust in him will be "overthrown" including Israel's high priest who is
referred to as "the prince of the covenant" (Daniel 11:22 cf.Isaiah 28:15-18)
Antichrist will "league" ("charm")
Israel by deceit (Daniel 11:23) and "by peace shall destroy many" in Israel (Daniel 8:25)
As the "Little Horn" (Daniel 7:8;Daniel 8:9) he shall become strong with a "small people" (Daniel 11:23)
and will become one "whose look was more stout than his fellows" (Daniel 7:20)
Antichrist will "enter peaceably" into the "fattest
parts of the province" (Israel) and do what his fathers did NOT do, i.e. enrich Israel rather than plunder
her (Daniel 11:24)
Corrupt Israel is described as a "whore" (Revelation 17:1)
supported and adorned by the "Beast" (Revelation 17:3-4) and her abominations were responsible for shedding the blood of Israel's
faithful (Revelation 17:5-6), i.e. the "woman clothed with the sun" (Revelation 12:1)
and wrathfully persecuted by the "dragon" (Revelation 12:13-17)
The "whore" is said to represent "that
great city" which is NOT named because of what it had become, i.e. "the great city, which spiritually
is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified" (Revelation 11:8 cf.Matthew 23:37;Isaiah 1:8-10;Jeremiah 23:14)
The "King of the North", i.e. Antichrist, "the
Assyrian" whom the Lord says He will break "in My land" (Isaiah 14:24-26 cf.Daniel 8:24-25;Daniel 11:45), will "stir up his power and his courage against the King of the
South" (Daniel 11:25)
He, i.e. the "King of the South", Egypt (Daniel 11:8-9),
"shall not stand, for they shall forecast
devices (contrive schemes) against him"
(Daniel 11:25)
The people who will aid Antichrist in his victory over
the "King of the South" will be "they that feed of the portion of his meat" (Daniel 11:26)
In Babylon, ONLY Daniel and his three friends stood apart
from the rest of the captive Jewish nobility in NOT being defiled "with the portion of the king's meat"
(Daniel 1:8,11-13) and were blessed by the True King (Daniel 1:14-15,19-20)
By way of contrast, there will be those who will trust
in the "wisdom" and "understanding" of the one who is said to be "wiser than Daniel"
(Ezekiel 28:3-4) and they will defile themselves with Antichrist's "prey, and
spoil, and riches" (Daniel 11:24)
These helpers of Antichrist will be apostate Jews whom
he will seduce "by flatteries" (Daniel 11:21) and with whom "he shall work deceitfully" (Daniel 11:23),
i.e. "the prince of the host (the high priest)" and the "host (false Israel)" which "was
given him" (Daniel 8:11-12)
The rival kings of the North and the South will behave
deceitfully towards one another, but it will all be to no avail, "for yet the end shall be at the time appointed"
(Daniel 11:27 cf.Daniel 11:35,40)
After his successful campaign againts the "King of
the South", Antichrist will return to his native land with "great riches" and "his heart shall
be against the holy covenant" (Daniel 11:28)
This turn of events will take place in "the midst
of the week" (Daniel 9:27) when Antichrist will have "broken his covenant" (Psalms 55:20)
and "shall put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him" (Isaiah 28:18)
