Paul testified that "I bear in my body the marks
of the Lord Jesus" (Galatians 6:17 cf. II Corinthians 11:23-25) and, thus, he could say, "before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath
been evidently set forth, crucified among you" (Galatians 3:1)
The Lord gave up His body with the drinking of wine (John 19:28-30)
After His death a soldier "pierced" His side
and immediately the blood issued forth followed by the water (John 19:33-34 cf. I John 5:6)
The members of the Lord's Body are physically derived
from His body as surely as Eve was physically taken out as a memberof Adam's body (Ephesians 5:30-32 cf. Genesis 2:21-24)
This physical truth is said to be a "great mystery"
concerning the Church (Ephesians 5:32)
The Church is called by the Name of its Head, the Christ
(I Corinthians 12:12,27), just as Eve was calledby the name of her head, Adam
(Genesis 5:2)
