The Revelation of Christ

• The revelation (Greek, "apokalupsis") literally means the "unveiling" of Christ (Revelation 1:1 cf. Revelation 1:12-17; Daniel 10:5-8) in His earthly kingdom glory (Revelation 11:15) as Israel's "Priest upon His Throne" (Zechariah 6:13 cf. Revelation 16:1,17)

• The apostle John was transported by the Spirit to the time of Israel's Tribulation in the Day of the Lord (Revelation 1:9-11 cf. Jeremiah 30:7; Daniel 12:1)
  • The prophet Ezekiel was similarly transported by the Spirit to the time of Israel's restoration with the eternal glory of the Lord's dwelling place (His House) in their midst (Ezekiel 43:5-7)

• The "Day of the Lord" is the "Day of Vengeance" when the "Controversy of Zion" will be finally settled (Jeremiah 46:10 cf. Isaiah 34:8)
  • It is the "Day of Wrath" which will make the mighty to "cry out" (Revelation 6:15-17 cf. Zephaniah 1:14-15)
  • It is the Day when the Lord will be revealed "from heaven in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God" (II Thessalonians 1:7-8)
  • It is the Day when the Lord will be revealed with the "clouds of heaven" (the angelic host) to establish His earthly kingdom (Daniel 7:13-14) and "every eye shall see Him" (Revelation 1:7)
  • It is the Day when the Lord will be revealed with the "clouds of heaven" to gather "His elect" (Matthew 24:29-31), i.e. the taking of faithful Israel into His kingdom (Matthew 24:37-44)
  • It is the Day when the faithful Jewish tribulation martyrs will share in their Messiah's earthly kingdom rule (Revelation 20:4-6 cf. Revelation 2:26-27; Psalms 2:6-9)
