Israel was "entangled in the land" and "shut
in by the wilderness" (Exodus 14:3), but were encouraged to "fear not" by Moses, and to "see
the salvation of the Lord" (Exodus 14:13), and so they "went into the sea upon the dry ground" (Exodus 14:22)
Israel's salvation was not complete until the nation had
gone through the Red Sea - "ye shall see them again no more forever" (Exodus 14:13)
The only type of baptism that the apostle Paul enjoins
the believer to consider is Israel's passage through the Red Sea (I Corinthians 10:1-2)
Israel's faithful tribulation remnant, which will flee
from Jerusalem in haste (Matthew 24:15-22) as Israel did from Egypt (Exodus 12:11,33), will have its' enemy pursuers
Divinely swallowed up by an earthquake (Revelation 12:1-3,13-16), just as the Egyptians were Divinely covered up by the waters of the
Red Sea (Exodus 14:27-28)
Faith issues forth the song of praise of Him alone
Faith and Inheritance - "the Walls of Jericho" (Hebrews 11:30)
The obedience of faith
By faith Abraham obeyed God's command to go out and seek
his inheritance (Hebrews 11:8,10)
By faith Israel obeyed God's command to go up and take
their inheritance (Joshua 6:2-5,11-16)
The testimony of faith is silent on Israel's tragedy of
unbelief for 40 years in the wilderness (Hebrews 3:8-12,15-19)
There is no break between Israel's triumph of faith in
the crossing of the Red Sea (Hebrews 11:29) and the conquest of Jericho (Hebrews 11:30)
Just as God gave Israel of old the victory over the city
of Jericho via the blowing of seven trumpets by the priests (Joshua 6:8-10),
so shall He give Israel's faithful tribulation remnant the victory over the kingdoms of this world via the blowing
of seven trumpets by the angels (Revelation 8:2,6; Revelation 11:15)
Great emphasis is laid on the blowing of the
seventh trumpet in each case
The seventh compassing of the seventh trumpet
knocks the walls of Jericho flat and brings the shout of victory (Joshua 6:10,15-16)
Just as Israel of old was commanded not to rebuild the
city which God destroyed (Joshua 6:26), Israel's faithful tribulation remnant is commanded not to lay again
the foundation of the Old Covenant and go on to the perfection of the New Covenant (Hebrews 6:1-6; Hebrews 8:6-13)
Likewise, Paul exhorts the Body of Christ
to forget the former things of the Law and press on to the high calling in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:8-10,12-14)
