Deborah was a "prophetess" who "judged
Israel" (Judges 4:4-5)
Although "the children of Israel came up to her for
judgment (Judges 4:5),
Deborah was a judge not raised up by the Lord, "Who delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the
days of the judge" (Judges 2:18)
"She judged Israel at that time" (Judges 4:4), when Jabin, king of Canaan (Judges 4:2), "mightily oppressed the children of Israel" (Judges 4:3)
Barak's Faith based upon Deborah's
Prophecy(Judges 4:6-16)
Barak's faith consisted of the words which the Lord
spoke through Deborah, the prophetess, "Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying ..." (Judges 4:6)
"I will draw unto thee ... Sisera, the captain
of Jabin's army" (Judges 4:7)
Deborah, the prophetess, informed Barak that it was
not for his honor that he's told to go against the enemy, but that God "shall sell Sisera into the hand of
a woman" (Judges 4:9)
Barak's faith is moved to action through the words
of the Lord through Deborah, the prophetess, "Up; for this is the day ... is not the Lord gone out before
thee?" (Judges 4:14)
God used two women to accomplish the deliverance of Israel,
because Jabin's army oppressed Israel by carrying off their women, "Have they not sped, have they not divided
the prey, to every man a damsel or two" (Judges 5:30)
Israel's women will sing the praises of their deliverance
by Jehovah in "the places of drawing water" from where they were taken as prey (Judges 5:11)
Wells were the places where "women go out to draw
water" (Genesis 24:11)
It was at the well where Moses came to the aid of Jethro's
seven daughters (Exodus 2:15-20)
The Lesson for Israel's Tribulation Remnant(Judges 4:23-24)
Be an overcomer and rule the nations with Christ (Revelation 2:26-27) as Barak overcame with
God and subdued Jabin, the king of Canaan (Judges 4:23-24)
